Humming Herbs® Berberine is a single-ingredient capsule supplement providing berberine HCl 1,000 mg per two-capsule serving, sourced from Berberis aristata root, in a bottle of 180 capsules — 90 servings. It is for adults who want berberine on its own at a full 1,000 mg serving, with no cinnamon, chromium or other botanicals added.

What is berberine?

Berberine is an isoquinoline alkaloid found in the roots and bark of several plants, including Berberis aristata (Indian barberry). It is used as a dietary ingredient in supplements aimed at metabolic wellness, and it is typically taken in divided doses with meals.

Who is this for?

Adults who want to set their own berberine dose and keep their other ingredients separate — people already taking a chromium or cinnamon product, or anyone who wants to add berberine to an existing routine without duplication. If you would rather have the supporting actives built in, look at our 3-in-1 or 6-in-1 berberine formulas.

How much should I take?

Two capsules daily with food gives the 1,000 mg serving. The bottle holds 90 servings.

How is this different from our 8-in-1 Berberine?

This is berberine by itself: one ingredient, 1,000 mg per serving, 180 capsules. Our 8-in-1 Berberine Complex builds a 1,300 mg berberine serving on top of Ceylon cinnamon, turmeric, milk thistle and bitter melon. Choose this SKU when you want a clean single-herb dose you can adjust; choose the 8-in-1 when you want the full herbal blend in one capsule.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about this product

What is berberine HCl, and where does yours come from?

Berberine is an isoquinoline alkaloid found naturally in the roots and bark of several plants. The berberine in this bottle comes from Berberis aristata root, also known as Indian barberry, and is supplied as the hydrochloride salt because that form is stable and straightforward to standardise. It is used as a dietary ingredient in supplements aimed at everyday metabolic wellness, usually taken in divided amounts with meals.

Is the 1,000 mg figure per capsule or per serving?

Per serving. A serving is two capsules, and the two together declare 1,000 mg of berberine HCl. That works out at 500 mg in each capsule. The 180-capsule bottle therefore holds 90 servings. This matters when you compare labels, because some bottles quote the per-capsule amount in large type and the per-serving amount only in the panel.

How do I take it, and how long does one bottle last?

Two capsules daily with food, or as directed by a healthcare professional. That is the whole of the labelled instruction, and at one serving a day the 180-capsule bottle lasts 90 days. Do not exceed the labelled serving. If you want to take it on a different pattern from the one printed on the bottle, that is a question for a healthcare professional.

Is there anything in here besides the berberine?

No other actives. Berberine HCl is the only ingredient on the Supplement Facts panel. Everything else listed is there to make the capsule work: microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate from a vegetable source, silicon dioxide, and a hypromellose capsule shell. That makes it suitable for vegetarians. There is no cinnamon, chromium, turmeric or any other botanical blended in.

How is this different from your 3-in-1 and 6-in-1 berberine?

This is berberine on its own at 1,000 mg per two-capsule serving. The Humming Herbs® Berberine 3-in-1 gives 1,500 mg of berberine standardised to at least 97%, plus Ceylon cinnamon and chromium, taken as one capsule three times daily. The 6-in-1 uses a 600 mg 20:1 berberine extract with Gymnema, cinnamon, chromium and thiamin. Pick this one when you want to set the berberine amount yourself.

Who should speak to a doctor before taking berberine?

Do not use this product if you are pregnant or nursing. Consult your physician first if you take medication for blood sugar or blood pressure. Because this is the single-herb bottle, berberine is the only active to factor in, with no cinnamon, chromium or thiamin to account for as well. Consult your healthcare professional before use if you are pregnant, nursing, under 18, taking medication or have a medical condition.
