Humming Herbs® Sodium Butyrate 7-in-1 is a gut support capsule supplement providing microencapsulated sodium butyrate 600 mg with calcium butyrate 200 mg, inulin-FOS prebiotic fibre 500 mg and two probiotic strains at 5 billion CFU each, plus zinc and vitamin D, per two-capsule serving, in a bottle of 120 capsules — 60 servings. It is for adults who want postbiotic, prebiotic and probiotic in one capsule rather than three products.

What is sodium butyrate, and why microencapsulated?

Butyrate is a short-chain fatty acid produced when gut bacteria ferment dietary fibre, and it is the main fuel of the cells lining the colon. Sodium butyrate is the sodium salt of it. Microencapsulation coats the butyrate so it is easier to take and reaches further down the digestive tract than an uncoated salt would.

What does the rest of the formula do?

This is a three-part gut formula. The postbiotic side is sodium butyrate 600 mg plus calcium butyrate 200 mg. The prebiotic side is inulin-FOS fibre at 500 mg — the fermentable fibre gut bacteria use. The probiotic side is Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus at 5 billion CFU and Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis at 5 billion CFU. Vitamin D 4 mcg (20% DV) and zinc as zinc citrate 7.5 mg (68% DV) complete it. Each serving also supplies 125 mg sodium (5% DV) and 37 mg calcium (3% DV).

How much should I take?

Two capsules daily with food. The bottle holds 60 servings.

How is this different from our Sodium Butyrate Plus 4-in-1?

Different build on the same idea. This 7-in-1 declares sodium butyrate at 600 mg with calcium butyrate alongside it, two named probiotic strains at 5 billion CFU each, plus zinc and vitamin D. Our Sodium Butyrate Plus 4-in-1 is built to an 1,100 mg per-serving total and uses L-glutamine as its second active instead of a second butyrate salt and the two micronutrients. Compare the butyrate line and the strain list on each panel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about this product

How much butyrate do two capsules deliver?

Sodium butyrate 600 mg, microencapsulated, plus calcium butyrate 200 mg, per two-capsule serving. Both are declared as their own rows on the Supplement Facts panel. The minerals they carry in are declared too: sodium 125 mg at 5% of the Daily Value and calcium 37 mg at 3%. The 120-capsule bottle holds 60 servings.

Which probiotic strains are in it, and how many CFU?

Two strains, each declared at 5 billion CFU per two-capsule serving: Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus and Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis. The panel states them as separate rows with separate CFU counts rather than as a combined blend total. Inulin-FOS prebiotic fibre 500 mg is declared alongside them, which is what makes this a postbiotic, prebiotic and probiotic panel in one serving.

How much sodium does a serving add?

Sodium 125 mg per two-capsule serving, which is 5% of the Daily Value. It is carried in as part of the sodium butyrate rather than added separately, and it is declared on its own panel row so you can see it. If you are watching your sodium intake for any reason, count this figure in and speak to a healthcare professional.

Why is the sodium butyrate microencapsulated, and does it need refrigerating?

Microencapsulation puts a coating around the butyrate, which is the standard way this ingredient is handled in capsules and is declared on the panel as part of the ingredient name. No refrigeration is needed: the label says to store the bottle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, which is all it asks for.

What else is on the panel, and should anyone check before use?

Beyond the butyrates, the probiotics and the inulin-FOS, the panel declares zinc 7.5 mg as zinc citrate at 68% of the Daily Value and vitamin D 4 mcg (160 IU) at 20%. Check the zinc against anything else you take. Consult your healthcare professional before use if you are pregnant, nursing, under 18, taking medication or have a medical condition.

How does this differ from your Butyrate Complex and Tributyrin?

Three different butyrate approaches. This one is microencapsulated sodium butyrate 600 mg with calcium butyrate 200 mg, inulin-FOS and two probiotic strains. The Butyrate Complex is mineral salts only — calcium butyrate 700 mg and magnesium butyrate 300 mg, with no probiotics. The Tributyrin 850 mg delivers butyrate as a triglyceride yielding 731 mg butyrate, with L-glutamine and its own probiotic blend.
